Xiamen in East China's Fujian province was ranked among China's top 10 smart cities and won several innovation demonstration awards, according to a report released at the 2019 Smart China Conference held in Beijing on Nov 28 and 29.

Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province ranked first on the list with an index of 77.4, and Hangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing were also shortlisted from among more than 100 cities after five months of assessment.

In recent years, Xiamen has been beefing up efforts to promote digitalization, barrier-free data sharing, and smart city development, especially in e-government services.

The city has also been working to establish a demonstration area for the digital economy and has accelerated the development of the high-end manufacturing industry. At the same time, it is attaching great importance to promoting the "Internet+" system, which has contributed significantly to the innovative development of its intelligent manufacturing industry and its large-scale application of artificial intelligence.
