Construction of a massive 56,000-square-meter film and television studio complex in Xiamen started on Aug 31.

The facility is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2020, and relevant investment promotional work has been launched.

Based on the complex, Xiamen will also build a film and TV industry base integrating shooting and production, technology and finance, and cultural and creative tourism.

Since Xiamen was selected as the host city of the next five editions of China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival, the city's film and TV industry has entered a fast track.

According to some industry insiders, although there have been more than 350 film and TV crews shooting in and around Xiamen since 2015, the city has always lacked a professional and comprehensive studio facility. The new complex will fill that gap.
