When talking about eastern Fujian's Xiamen, most people think of its beautiful coastline and mild climate. But for many locals, Xiamen is also the land of music, especially in the summer.

This summer, the Xiamen Music Season - a month-long festival for music lovers – is set to kick off on July 30, according to local media.

Over the course of the month, four themed weeks – piano, string, percussion and guitar – will be staged in the city's Siming district.

The event is organized by the government of Siming district. A group of musicians from home and abroad are invited to perform during the event.

In addition, three international music competitions will take place in the district.

According to the Siming government, the district plans to develop Xiamen Music Season into an art brand which integrates tourism and music.
