A dedicated Belt and Road lane was officially put into use at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, or Xiamen Airport, in Fujian province on April 28.

The National Immigration Administration has set up Belt and Road lanes in 18 immigration inspection checkpoints, including the one in Xiamen Airport, in order to streamline inspection procedures for people involved in key construction projects, partnerships, meetings and activities related to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Xiamen Airport is one of the busiest single-runway airports in the world. It operates direct flights to eight countries involved in the BRI, including South Korea, Singapore, the Philippines, and Malaysia, as well as 12 passenger routes and one freight route to Russia.

The airport ranks among the highest in China and first in Fujian province in terms of the number of routes it offers and entry-exit traffic.
