East China's Fujian province launched a health QR code system for inbound travelers arriving in the province on April 14 in order to tighten management and reduce imported infections.
Applicants must register on the Minzhengtong App(闽政通) using their real names and valid certificates and must fill in personal information such as their ID number and contact details.
Valid certificates include resident identification cards, Chinese passports, Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents, Exit-Entry Permits for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao, Chinese green cards, and foreign passports.
The health-status code has two color classifications, green and orange, which are based on the applicant’s health status and travel history. A green QR code allows people to travel across Fujian without worrying about coronavirus-related traffic restrictions.
Authorities have said that the health QR code will need to be shown before boarding public vehicles or entering residential communities or business offices. People can also check their own health conditions via the health QR code system.
