The first Fujian Consumer Goods Sourcing Fair and Commercial District (Pedestrian Street) Expo kicked off in Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, on Dec 12. A number of Xiamen products shined at the event, according to local media reports.

The expo, hosted by the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce, focused on the economics of business circles and a number of time-honored brands and featured products were showcased.

The expo's Xiamen pavilion featured a photo of Xiamen's Zhongshan Road, which is visited by many tourists every day due to its central location near Gulangyu Island. The pavilion promoted many of the city's renowned time-honored brands.

In addition, many Minnan (southern Fujian) style walking streets and Fuzhou-style business streets caught the attention of visitors, along with some new types of businesses and advanced technology.

The expo, aimed at encouraging consumption and expanding domestic demand, is expected to grow into a national-level exhibition focusing on consumption, trade, and displays, according to an official of the provincial commerce department.
