The 2019 China Innovation Design Conference was hosted in the coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Dec 9. It was concluded at the conference that the innovation-driven development of the digital creative industry should be pushed.

Cao Minjie, vice-president of Jimei University, noted that in an effort to promote the development of the digital creative industry of Fujian, the university has optimized the layout of its disciplines and introduced some design-related subjects, such as information and communication engineering, computer science and technology, practical economics, design science, and fine arts.

Over the years, Xiamen has gone to great lengths to cultivate new industries and new economy, and has placed a strong emphasis on the development of its strategic emerging industries, such as the ACG (animation, comics, and games) industry, design services, and the film and television industry.

The city, with its strong foundation for cultural, creative, and information software industries, has released plans to establish a national demonstration zone for the digital economy.
