Siming district in Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province, is accelerating the building of a smart court system and simplifying procedures for handling cases, according to local media reports.

Yuanwutong (legal assistance), a mini-program on WeChat, which was launched by Siming district, offers great help to the city building smart courts and modernizing trial systems and capabilities.

The app offers online services in legal consultations and applications, which are geared to the demands of the masses, providing diverse and convenient legal assistance for disadvantaged groups.

Ma Siyuan, an official from Siming's legal aid center, noted that the new app will further simplify procedures for legal assistance, judicial review and supervision, and propel the innovative development of informatization and modernization of the city's smart courts.

With the help of the mini-program, legal aid lawyers can provide advice and services online, which will greatly improve their work efficiency, while the public can ask for legal advice and apply for services for handling legal aid cases whenever and wherever possible.

In addition, the program will help to achieve seamless linkage among legal aid centers, public security authorities and lawyers, ensuring an application scene of resource sharing, and the construction of the city's smart courts.
