China makes headway in vocational education

China has made remarkable progress in advanced vocational education, according to an evaluation report published on the Ministry of Education's website.

Advanced vocational schools nationwide have seen improved conditions, with growing access to teaching apparatuses, digital resources and wireless networks, said the report.

In 2017, advanced vocational schools across the country enrolled nearly 3.51 million new students, an increase of 75,000 from the previous year, said the report, adding that the total number of students studying at these schools reached 11.05 million, up 221,000 year on year, it said.

Meanwhile, the increase of competent teachers in advanced vocational schools has also attracted students. According to the report, the number of full-time teachers totaled 482,000 in 2017, growing by 15,000 compared to that of 2016.
