Xixian New Area, located in Shaanxi province, hosted a promotional event in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Nov 28 to promote Shaanxi's history and culture.

Xixian New Area, located between Xi'an and Xianyang, was established in May 2011 and approved by the State Council in January 2014 as the first state-level development zone focusing on innovative urban development.

In recent years, the area has been striving to develop its culture and tourism industries and build a cultural tourism industrial cluster worth 100 billion yuan ($14.2 billion). Its unique strengths and rich history make it a perfect place for exploring Chinese civilization.

For the upcoming New Year and Spring Festival holidays, the area plans to hold a variety of activities and implement preferential policies for Xiamen travelers, such as discounted tickets and subsidies for Xiamen travel agencies, according to local officials.

At the promotional event, tourism sites in Xixian New Area signed cooperative agreements with tourism enterprises in Xiamen. In the future, the two sides will work together to propel the development of the tourism industry and explore new models for cooperation in the culture and tourism industries.
