The coastal city of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has launched direct intercity buses to Jiaomei town in Zhangzhou, Xiamen Daily reported on Dec 1.
The six new lines are jointly operated by bus companies in Xiamen and Jiaomei and span 29.5 kilometers with 32 stops. They are scheduled to leave every 10 to 20 minutes from 6:30 am to 8:30 pm.
The lines travel to many industrial areas and innovation parks and link with Xiamen Subway Lines 1 and 2. This is expected to help boost the integrated development of Xiamen and Zhangzhou and improve the business environment of the two cities.
In addition, the extension of Xiamen Subway Line 6 to Zhangzhou (Jiaomei) is scheduled to begin soon. The extension is part of Fujian's plan to develop the southwest regions, and it is expected to propel the development of the Xiamen-Zhangzhou city cluster. The line will be extended from the Zhangzhou Taiwan Investment Zone to West Lindai Station in Xiamen, consisting of seven underground stations.
