The 28th China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, China's top film festival, was held at the Xiamen Banlam Grand Theater in East China's Fujian province on Nov 19. Xiamen itself proved to be one of the stars of the event.

The opening ceremony, which consisted of eight programs, vividly showcased Xiamen's economic and social development, beautiful views, and local customs.

The Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Xiamen's main attractions, performed at the opening ceremony, and well-known pianist Yin Chengzong, who was born in Xiamen, performed the classic Chinese piano concerto Yellow River.

The event, considered China's most prestigious film festival, has been held in 26 cities across the country since it was established in 1992, and it will be held in Xiamen every year following this year's event.
