The unveiling ceremony of the sculpture was held in Xiamen, Fujian province on Nov 19 in celebration of the 28th Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.

Designed by Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China, the sculpture is expected to become a new cultural symbol of Xiamen. The dancing rooster represents a Chinese idiom that goes "wenji qiwu", literally meaning "rise upon the crow of the rooster to practice swordplay". This is meant to encourage Chinese filmmakers to work hard and promote the development of China's film industry.
