The China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival is scheduled to begin being held every year, according to an announcement at the event's opening ceremony in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Nov 19. The event has traditionally been held every two years since 2005.
The Golden Rooster Awards is being held in Xiamen for the first time this year, and will be held in the city for the following five years as well. This marks the beginning of a new era for China's film and television industry.
The Golden Rooster Awards, launched in 1981 (the Year of the Rooster), is national film awards sponsored by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the China Film Association. They have developed into China's most prestigious film awards and have contributed significantly to the development of China's film industry.
