Jimei district in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, has been successfully attracting investment to its film industry, with many film and television projects being carried out there, local media reported on Nov 19.

In recent years, Jimei has been attaching great importance to improving its urban environment, and the government has implemented policies to promote the development of an entire industrial chain for the film industry. The district is now home to more than 500 film and TV companies.

With China's Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival being held in Xiamen for the next five years, Jimei is pulling out all the stops to turn Xiamen into one big movie studio. Many events, including youth film festivals, a summit on film production studios, and forums on cross-Straits films, are creating an ideal climate for a strong film and TV industry.

Jimei hopes to become a "film city" by offering film production facilities and a strong environment for film-related photography, services, and tourism.
