Xiamen in East China's Fujian province has unveiled a three-year plan to propel the high-quality development of the cultural, tourism, exhibition, and convention industries, Xiamen Daily reported on Nov 13.

According to the plan, a new urban cultural ecology highlighting the film and television industry will take shape in Xiamen. The average annual growth rate of the city's cultural industry is projected to stay at around 15 percent, and by 2022, its revenue is expected to hit 180 billion yuan ($25.66 billion), making Xiamen a national leader in the cultural industry.

The plan declares that the city will beef up efforts to promote its tourism industry, and that it should bring in 250 billion yuan in tourism revenue by 2022, with an average annual increase of about 15 percent.

In addition, the city's MICE industry will likely see a boom within the next three years, and is expected to generate 56 billion yuan in economic benefits by 2022, with an increase of 10 percent year-on-year. The city will also work to develop 20 well-known brands in an effort to make Xiamen a national leader in the MICE industry, as well as a famous international exhibition city.
