The main venue for the 28th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival, which will be held in Xiamen, Fujian province from Nov 19 to 23, was recently completed. 

The building features a distinctive southern Fujian architectural style with cornices flying over the ends of the roof and simple but elegantly furnished colonnades standing firmly on the ground. Characteristic local red bricks and paper-cutting window decorations give a traditional feel to the modern building. 

The single-layer steel structure covers a floor space of 22,000 square meters, a built-up area of 45,300 sq m, and reaches 30.2 meters at its highest point, towering over the surrounding area. 

The main exhibition hall is 133 m long, 72 m wide and 24 m tall – and can accommodate 6,900 chairs, making it a suitable performance venue. 

A plaza boasting splendid seaside views has also been erected. It will host red carpet shows and serve as a great place for Xiamen locals to hang out.
