The 2019 World Ocean Week is scheduled to run on Nov 1-7 in Xiamen, in eastern Fujian province, according to local media reports.

World Ocean Week has been held in Xiamen for 13 consecutive years with great success and to great fanfare and this year promises to be no different, according to the organizers.

This year's week-long event will consist of a fair on commercializing marine scientific and technological achievements, an expo on the commercial fishing industry as well as a yacht exhibition among other activities.

Ocean week will also host ocean culture activities, to offer the public an insight into the worlds of science and technology and give them a deeper understanding of the ocean.

World Ocean Week is jointly organized by the State Oceanic Administration, the Xiamen municipal government, the representative office of the United Nations Development Programme China and Xiamen University.
