Xiamen showcases MICE industry in US

Wang Qiongwen, director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention and Exhibition, attended the 58th Annual Meeting of the International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA) in Houston, the United States on Oct 27-29.
Wang was invited to deliver a speech at the meeting, during which he introduced the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) industry in Xiamen.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Wang met with James Rees, president of ICCA, Senthil Gopinath, CEO of ICCA, and Noor Ahmad Hamid, president of ICCA Asia-Pacific office.
Wang briefed them on Xiamen's strength as a host city for exhibitions and the importance of the CIFIT investment fair, which is held in the city every year.
Gopinath said that he plans to attend the Xiamen International MICE Week to further discuss the possibility of holding ICCA meetings in the Chinese city.
This year's ICCA meeting attracted nearly 1,000 professionals from the MICE industry and associations from 75 countries and regions.
Founded in 1963, ICCA represents the world's most experienced suppliers specialized in handling, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, and comprises more than 1,100 member companies and organizations in almost 100 countries.
