The 6th Marine Scientific and Technological Commercialization Fair is set to take place in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, from Nov 1 to 3, according to the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Ocean Development on Oct 28.
With an exhibition area of 5,000 square meters, the fair is expected to host no less than 100 exhibitors and erect more than 150 booths in six exhibition areas, including ones for marine biological medicine, high-end marine equipment, and maritime financial services.
In addition, three pavilions will also be set up to attract investment to Xiamen's marine industry, to display the hi-tech achievements of the marine industry, and to introduce the Nanfang Marine Entrepreneurship and Innovation Base.
On the first day of the event, the China-ASEAN Marine Industry Matchmaking Meeting will be held, which will be attended by senior officials from countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative and marine companies from around China.
Since its launch in 2014, the fair has facilitated the signing of 124 projects with a combined 1.36 billion yuan ($191.81 million) in investment.
The 12th China (Xiamen) Recreational Fishing Aquarium Expo will be held alongside the fair. It will house more than 650 booths within its 15,000-square-meter exhibition area.
The two events are both important parts of the upcoming World Ocean Week, which will take place from Nov 1 to 7 and be attended by people from 40 countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
