A driverless electric bus produced by a Xiamen-based firm drew considerable interest from visitors attending the 2019 World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, East China's Zhejiang province, from Oct 20 to 22.
A number of visitors were even ferried around the conference site by the advanced vehicles, attracting attention from onlookers.
The new bus, which is named "Leading you forward", was produced by Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co, a leading Chinese producer of passenger vehicles. The electric buses make use of a 5G automatic driving system which was independently developed by Hangzhou's BroadXT.
Powered by a variety of advanced instruments, such as sensors, high-precision positioning, laser radar, and the fifth-generation wireless network –– the driverless vehicle is able to identify the route, traffic lights, vehicles and other obstacles up to 200 meters away.

Over the years, King Long company has worked to improve innovation and is now developing a new generation of products powered by 5G technology.
So far, the driverless buses have been promoted in Shanghai and Xiamen, and underwent road tests in Israel this March.
