Xiamen ranks 5th nationwide in air quality from January-September

Xiamen in East China's Fujian province recorded a comprehensive air quality index of 2.85, ranking 5th among 168 key cities in the country in the first three quarters of this year, Xiamen Daily reported on Oct 23.
In recent years, Xiamen has beefed up efforts to promote environmental protection and maintain an ecological balance in the city.
This year, Xiamen implemented the Three-Year Action Plan of the Blue Sky Protection Campaign. A wide range of measures have been carried out to optimize the city's industrial structure and adjust energy consumption methods, which includes reducing emissions of major air pollutants.
According to the Ministry of Ecology and the Environment, the five cities with the best comprehensive air quality in the country from January to September were Haikou, Lhasa, Zhoushan, Shenzhen, and Xiamen.
