The unveiling ceremony of the Xiamen Institute of Flexible Electronics was held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Oct 18. More than 70 scholars and industrial leaders in the flexible electronics field attended.

The Xiamen Institute of Flexible Electronics is playing an important role in helping Xiamen deepen reforms in its science and technology system and promote the development of its 10 future industries.

Flexible electronics can be applied in many areas, including information, energy sources, medical treatment, and national defense. The institute aims to explore the latest science and technology related to flexible electronics and promote the commercialization of cutting-edge flexible electronics technology.

According to Kong Shuguang, director of the Xiamen science and technology bureau, the institute will collect high-quality resources and promote the innovative development of the flexible electronics industry in Xiamen. It will also give Xiamen enterprises an opportunity to cooperate with scientific institutions to facilitate the commercial application of science and technology and further enhance their capacity for independent innovation.
