According to China Railway Nanchang Group, two pairs of new bullet trains were scheduled to be launched between Xiamen in Fujian province, and Meizhou in Guangdong province on Oct 11.

The Guangzhou-Meizhou-Shantou passenger bullet train is expected to reduce the travel time between Xiamen and Meizhou from about 5.5 hours to three hours, which will further promote tourism and cultural exchange between Fujian and Guangdong provinces.

Meizhou, situated in the northeast of Guangdong province, is known as a home of the Hakka people and is considered the unofficial capital of Hakka culture. Meizhou is famous for its food, such as salt-baked chicken, meat stuffed tofu, preserved beef, candied ginger, and braised pork with preserved vegetables.
