A forum focusing on the development of Xiamen films -- a side activity of the upcoming China Golden Rooster Film Festival -- kicked off in Xiamen in eastern Fujian province recently.

According to Li Xiaohong, president of the Xiamen film association and host of the forum, the event aims to build an exchange platform for Xiamen filmmakers and boost the development of the city's film industry.

Li also mentioned that the Xiamen film association will carry out a series of activities to support the Golden Rooster Film Festival, such as a film poster exhibition, theme seminar and a film panorama.

During the forum, some filmmakers shared their Xiamen stories.

"Xiamen is like an oil painting or a song. It's a city perfect for film and television production," said Li Ming, one of the creators of Spring and Autumn in a Small Town which was shot in Xiamen in the late 1970s.

Xiamen is now building a 56,000-square-meter film and television studio complex, which is expected to lift Xiamen film and television industry to a new level in the near future, according to an official from the Xiamen Film and TV Industrial Service Center.
