Modern logistics is a significant industrial chain worth 100 billion yuan ($14.15 billion) in Xiamen.
Statistics from the city's transportation bureau show that in the first eight months, its logistics industry yielded 85.28 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.09 percent.
In 2017 Xiamen port started to be capable of handling 10 million containers in a year. From January to August this year, the port handled more than 7.42 million containers, up 4.83 percent from last year.
An official from the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Transportation said that the city will rely on the national port hub to develop various other modes of transport, including railway and air.
