More than 20 countries and regions have confirmed they will organize important project matchmaking activities during the upcoming 2019 CIFIT, local media reported on Sept 4.
CIFIT, short for the China International Fair for Investment and Trade, is a massive international and national affair that is to be held this year in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, on Sept 8-11.
The latest numbers from the organizers indicated that the event's own Chinese member organizations and foreign institutes will bring another 5,000 and 1,000 projects to the event respectively, taking the total number of projects going there to more than 30,000.
About 1,000 investors have signed up to take part in the event, with estimated 30,000 project matchmaking activities to be held.
These activities would focus on cooperation among countries involved in the Silk Road.
The CIFIT organizing committee will arrange project matchmaking activities exclusively for the countries and regions along the Belt and Road route and invite their governmental agencies, investment promotion agencies or companies to give briefings on their business environment, preferential policies and potential projects.
Last year the fair saw the signing of 1,982 investment projects worth 527.5 billion yuan ($78.59 billion) and drew the attendance of more than 120,000 representatives from 1,005 industrial and commercial associations.
