Xiamen's trade tops 109b yuan with BRI countries

Xiamen's foreign trade with countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative topped 109 billion yuan ($15.23 billion) in the first seven months of the year, a year-on-year increase of 6.9 percent, according to statistics released by Xiamen Customs.
Exports of the city in eastern Fujian province jumped 12.7 percent year-on-year to 61.95 billion yuan, while imports stood at 47.08 billion yuan, a slight year-on-year increase of 0.2 percent.
Xiamen's imports and exports with Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam from January to July topped other BRI countries with respective trade volumes of 13.9 billion yuan, 11.18 billion yuan and 10.5 billion yuan.
Mechanical and electrical products as well as traditional labor intensive products were the city's most exported goods, with total value of 24.86 billion yuan and 22.83 billion yuan respectively in the January-July period.
Mechanical and electrical products were its biggest imports over the same period with a total trade volume of 10.32 billion yuan.
