Three shot-putters from Xiamen in East China's Fujian province were invited to attend the 2019 Mokpo Throwing Competition in Mokpo, a sister city of Xiamen in South Korea, on Aug 23-26.
After a tough competition, two Xiamen players, Xu Jiayi and Guo Yitong, secured the top two places for the junior school female student group of shot-putting. Another player, Lin Zihao, came third in the competition for junior school male students.
The Mokpo Shot-putting Competition is one of the sports exchange activities between Xiamen and Mokpo. This is the ninth time that athletes from Xiamen have been invited for the event in Mokpo and Xiamen has also invited the South Korean city to attend its international marathon for 11 years in a row.
Since Xiamen and Mokpo established sister city relations in 2007, the two cities have maintained frequent sports exchanges, which have provided a platform for those engaged in sports to exchange ideas and share experiences.
