The organizing committee of the 28th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival announced on Aug 26 that the main venue of the event will be pavilions B8 and B9 of the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center. 

Designed with a built-up area of 45,300 square meters, the venue, now under construction, features a distinctive southern Fujian architectural style that has cornices flying over the ends of the roof and simple but elegantly furnished colonnades. Characteristic local red bricks and paper-cutting window decorations give a traditional feel to the modernized building. 

The main exhibition hall will cover an area of 10,000 sq m and accommodate 6,900 chairs, helping it to work temporarily as a place for cultural performances. A square boasting splendid seaside views will also be erected, which will on one hand meet the needs of red carpet shows, while on the other be a new leisure choice for Xiamen locals. 

The construction started on Dec 21, 2018 and has entered the phase of interior decoration. The film event will be held in the coastal city from Nov 19 to 23.
