Jinbing village in Xiang'an district of Xiamen, Fujian province, is known as the "first village in Xiamen" due to its impressively long history. Recently it was selected as the so-called "well-preserved traditional village" of Xiamen.
The village has preserved its clustered residential structure and old alleys and streets. Several traditional facilities are still accessible to residents.
Visitors to the village can enjoy local intangible cultural heritages such as Gaojia opera, Paixiong (chest-flapping) dancing, puppet opera, and taste the Fujian-favored hand-made noodles.
The well-known Paixiong dance is a traditional folk dance in South Fujian. Shirtless and barefoot men squat and flap their chests and legs while dancing. The Xiang'an Paixiong dance teaching center is located in the village.
There is a 1,200-year-old camphor tree in the village with a height of 18.3 meters, making it one of the oldest and largest trees in Xiang'an.
