A second-hand Mitsubishi Outlander was brought to a container to apply for exports from Xiamen Customs on Aug 13, marking the port in the city capable of exporting used vehicles.
With the help of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Xiamen Customs and other related government departments, Xiamen Xindeco Auto Group obtained a qualification for exporting the Mitsubishi Outlander in three working days.
The second-hand car is expected to arrive in the Sihanoukville port of Cambodia on Aug 25.
On May 5, Xiamen became one of the 10 cities in China to pilot the export of used vehicles.
Then, led by the city's commerce bureau, five local companies, including Xiamen Xindeco Auto Group, were approved by the Ministry of Commerce to be the first batch of auto dealers in Xiamen to be capable of selling used cars to other countries.
The director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce said that second-hand car exporting is a new business. It will boost the development of relevant industries in Xiamen and its surrouding cities and rejuvenate the recycling economy in the city.
Statistics from the Xiamen bureau showed that by the end of this year, the five Xiamen auto dealers qualified for exporting used vehicles will have roughly 1,000 such orders in hand, which are mainly sold in countries on the Belt and Road route.
