Software and manufacturing companies in Xiamen -- that use cloud services provided by cloud service providers registered by the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology -- can apply for subsidies, local media reported.

For companies using software development clouds, 60 percent in subsidies will be given to the part where the cloud services cost 100,000 yuan ($14,240) or less. And 40 percent in subsidies will be given to the excess part. The maximum annual subsidy for each company is 200,000 yuan.

In addition, businesses using the smart manufacturing cloud will receive subsidies of up to 40 percent of their cloud services costs, with a ceiling of 500,000 yuan annually for each company.

Companies can only apply for one of the two cloud subsidies.

Based on its own application requirements, a company can obtain various cloud services provided by cloud service providers through the network -- so as to optimize its production, operation and management, improve the allocation of resources and reduce costs.

Currently Xiamen is promoting cloud services to its companies, and is striving to have some 50 manufacturing companies and 100 software companies using cloud services within this year.
