Xiamen AI Summit draws 2,000 attendees nationwide

The First China Artificial Intelligence Summit opened in Xiamen in eastern China's Fujian province on Aug 9. During the summit, the results of a multimedia information recognition technology competition were released.
Nearly 2,000 people attended the summit, including top domestic experts and scholars, competition teams and industry leaders from various scientific research institutions, universities and enterprises.
Ni Guangnan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, discussed the competition on behalf of the experts.
He pointed out that the competition received a positive response from AI related enterprises. A total of 362 teams signed up to participate in 995 subjects, which focused on multiple topics related to AI.
In addition, a total of eight sub-forums were held. Government management departments, experts and scholars, enterprise representatives and innovation teams conducted in-depth discussions on the innovative application and integrated development of AI in various fields.
The event was guided by the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Public Security, and hosted by the Xiamen municipal government.
Yang Xiaowei, deputy director of the Office of the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, Chen Zhaoxiong, vice-minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Lin Rui, vice-minister of the Ministry of Public Security, attended the summit.
