A film and television salon kicked off at Jinbang Academy in Xiamen's Siming district on Aug 4, as part of the 2019 Siming movie season.

The movie season is part of the run-up to the 28th China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival, which will be held in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province from Nov 19-23. 

Attended by renowned artists, film directors and lyricists, the salon relived the classic songs from previous China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival award winners.

Film and music are like two wings that have propelled Xiamen into to the sky and allowed it to ascend to heights hitherto unseen. It is hoped that the event can increase appreciation for film and music, said lyricist Guo Xiaohua, adding that 10 film salons with different themes will be held in the run-up to this year's China Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival. 

In addition to the salon, the 2019 Siming movie season has rolled out another eight movie-themed activities, including an open-air cinema, a film poster exhibition and an outdoor music show.

Siming district has been acknowledged as "the most beautiful shooting location in China." Shapowei, located in the district, was awarded the title of Xiamen Film and TV Shooting Location last December.
