Ever since Fujian started supplying water to Jinmen in Taiwan on Aug 5, 2018, the eastern Chinese province has provided over 3.66 million tons of water to its neighboring county, a daily average of over 10,000 tons.

"Fujian is gearing up to offer clean, safe and ecological water to Jinmen residents," said Yan Hua, chairman of the Fujian Water Supply Co, adding that the 115 national indexes have all indicated the water delivered to Jinmen is safe and up to standard.

Chang Wu-ta, director of the waterworks in Jinmen, said the county has enjoyed a year of stable water supply, greatly relieving its previous shortage and lack of protection afforded to groundwater resources.

Kuo Ching-chung, manager at the Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor (Xiamen) Trading Co, said the water from Fujian has effectively solved the water shortage issue and ensured that his company can continue to brew liquor from groundwater.

Over 10 groups consisting of some 550 Taiwan residents have visited the water supply project in Fujian in the past year.
