Xiamen to build new hospital with Sichuan University

Xiamen in East China's Fujian province signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan University on Aug 4. Hu Changsheng, Party secretary of Xiamen, and Zhuang Jiahan, mayor of Xiamen, were in attendance, local media reported.
According to the agreement, the two sides will jointly build the Xiamen branch of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University as well as an affiliated research institute.
During the signing ceremony, Hu pointed out that Sichuan University has strength, resources and talents in medical field, and Xiamen has preferential policies, advantages and space for medical development, making the two sides an ideal pair.
West China Hospital of Sichuan University is one of the top hospitals in China, with 32 specialties entering the national key clinical specialties construction project, more than any other hospital.
The Xiamen branch will be located in Jimei district. It will introduce no less than five national key clinical specialties of West China Hospital, creating a diagnosis and treatment center for difficult and severe diseases, and building a first-class general hospital in China that integrates medical treatment, teaching and scientific research.
Meanwhile, through the research institute, Xiamen and Sichuan University will deepen cooperation in medical research, medical education, technological innovation and commercialization of new technologies, focusing on key areas such as medical and industrial integration, biomedicine, artificial intelligence and big data.
