The National Immigration Administration implemented 12 measures simplifying immigration and entry-exit applications for certain foreigners on Aug 1.

On the first day of the measures being implemented, Xiamen in East China's Fujian province issued five-year residence permits for eight foreigners.

One of the eight foreigners said that the new policy makes things much easier for him and is a great way to attract talents.

According to the city's entry-exit department, some of the measures have already been piloted in the Xiamen Area of China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

The measures will further stimulate Xiamen's regional advantages and help to introduce high-end resources, develop high-end industries, and build higher education clusters which are consistent with Xiamen's efforts to promote investment and development, Zeng Jiaxian, an official of the department, told local media.

The Xiamen entry-exit department also visited well-known multinational enterprises in Xiamen, such as Dell, Linde Forklift Truck and Nippon Electric Glass, to understand the needs of foreign talents working at these companies and provide guidance to personnel departments.

Huang Chenhong, president of Dell Greater China, expressed his gratitude for the measures. "Currently, Dell has more than 100 foreign employees in Xiamen. The measures will make things much easier for them."
