Xiamen lifted by robust consumer market

The total retail sales of consumer goods in Xiamen, eastern China's Fujian province, hit 88.21 billion yuan ($12.8 billion) in the first half of this year for a year-on-year increase of 12 percent, according to local statistics bureau.
Statistics showed that in June alone, the city's total sales of consumer retail goods soared 33.2 percent year-on-year to 15.08 billion yuan, 19.8 percentage points above the provincial average.
The retail turnover of commodities took the lion's share of the total retail sales in Xiamen from January to June, contributing 11.1 percent growth to the latter. The retail turnover of commodities reached 79.14 billion yuan, a 12.4 percent increase year-on-year.
Emerging industries posted robust development during the same period. Online sales of companies with total annual sales of commodities of 5 million yuan or more exceeded 17.44 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 33.9 percent and 10.9 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
