East China's Fujian province promoted itself as desirable travel destination to Taiwan residents at the 2019 Cross-Straits Taipei Summer Tourism Exhibition in Taipei from July 19 to 22.

According to an official from the Fujian Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, the event aimed to attract more Taiwan residents to Fujian by offering high-speed railway trips to visit famous cultural sites, appreciate stunning seaside views, and explore the hometown of tea.

The event also featured various interactive activities designed to convince Taiwan visitors of Fujian's unparalled excellence, including virtual reality films, tea time with travel experts, photo exhibitions, and quizzes with prizes going to the winners.

The event attracted over 20,000 visitors each day it was held.

Lo Hsiang-jung, a Taiwan worker in her 20s, said Fujian is the next stop on her China itinerary. "I came here to get more first-hand travel information; Fujian's culture, food and architecture are really worth seeing," Lo said.
