Xiamen Software Park Phase III in East China's Fujian province achieved 5G network coverage recently, the first in Fujian to do so, local media reported.

Aside from the obvious conveniences that come with 5G, enterprises in the park are also actively exploring innovative applications of the technology.

In the park's exhibition hall, many novel 5G applications developed by the park's enterprises are being displayed, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the characteristics of 5G technology -- high bandwidth, low latency and strong connection.

As the park enters the 5G era, it has also become an excellent testing place for 5G applications. For instance, a 5G microcirculation online transport system, jointly built by Xiamen Public Transport Group, China Mobile, Tsinghua University and Xiamen Information Group, is being tested in the park.

"Users send requests for rides through a mobile application. Then the system will automatically arrange buses for users and plan the route for bus drivers," said an official of Xiamen Public Transport Group. "Thanks to 5G technology, the complicated process can be done in just a few seconds."

5G is a key industry of Xiamen Software Park. 5G network coverage will accelerate the research and development of 5G innovative application and promote the integrated development of 5G and real economy, according to the park's management committee.

The park will also strive to introduce high-quality 5G projects and leading enterprises in related industries.
