Fortune magazine unveiled the 2019 Global 500 list on July 22. Three companies from Xiamen in East China's Fujian province made the list.

The rankings of the three Xiamen companies all rose significantly from last year.

C&D Inc ranked 277, 85 places higher than last year, and was the highest among Xiamen companies. In 2018, the operating revenue of the company reached 282.6 billion yuan ($42.73 billion), a year-on-year growth of 28.3 percent, and its total profits reached 11.1 billion yuan, up 77 percent year-on-year.  

Xiamen ITG Holding Group Co Ltd rose 69 places from last year to 291. The company made 274.1 billion yuan ($41.44 billion) in revenue last year, with total profits of 6.66 billion yuan.

The other Xiamen company in the top 500 list is Xiamen Xiangyu Group, which rose 37 places to 338, with last year's revenue reaching 234 billion yuan ($36.5 billion).

A total of 129 Chinese companies are among the Global 500 this year, surpassing the US for the first time, which has 121 on the list.

The Fortune Global 500 is a ranking of companies by revenue that has been published annually since 1955 by American multinational business magazine Fortune, headquartered in New York.
