A group of 35 doctoral students from Blue Fire Project recently signed agreements with local enterprises in Xiamen, Fujian province to provide them with technical support over the next month.

The doctoral students come from 23 universities and research institutes, including Tianjin University, Nankai University, Beijing Jiaotong University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Their fields of study include finance, material science, transportation, biomedicine, planning, and construction, all of which are urgently needed for the economic and social development of Xiamen.

Blue Fire Project was started by the Ministry of Education in 2015. Blue represents technology and fire stands for energy. The project aims to facilitate cooperation between local enterprises and educational institutions across the country in an effort to industrialize major scientific and technological achievements.

At present, more than 500 doctoral students have participated in the project, which is welcomed by local governments and enterprises.

In order to better strengthen connections between universities, research institutes and firms, the organization department of the Xiamen municipal Party committee cooperated with the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education and introduced the Blue Fire Project for the first time this year.

Among the enterprises participating in the project are state-owned enterprises such as Xiamen Xiangyu Group, one of the world's top 500 enterprises, and listed enterprises such as Luyan Pharma and Yealink.

After a month of providing technical support services, if the students reach an agreement with the enterprises, they may continue to provide services for a year.
