The 2019 China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) has attracted more than 5,000 projects seeking potential investors, according to a recent preparation conference for the upcoming event held in northern Shanxi province, which will also serve as the guest province of honor.

In addition, more than 200 investors have signed up for the event to look for promising projects, which mainly involve energy saving, environmental protection, electronic information and biomedicine.

Over 30 countries and regions have confirmed their attendance at the 2019 CIFIT, including Russia, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.

The exhibition area of the 2019 CIFIT is expected to cover 130,000 square meters and include three zones – the Investment Promotion Pavilion, the Industrial Investment Pavilion and the Maritime Silk Road Countries Pavilion.

In addition to projects related to real estate, mass health, tea, wine and gardening, the Industrial Investment Pavilion will also focus on industrial internet, green innovative technology products and agricultural produce along Belt and Road countries.

This year's event will highlight Silk Road cooperation. Investment attraction and promotion agencies in Silk Road countries will be invited to set up a pavilion to showcase their business environment and investment projects.

The organizing committee of the 2019 CIFIT will also cooperate with the China Institute of Communications to erect a Digital Silk Road Pavilion displaying the achievements made by these countries in 5G equipment, network communication equipment and information security.

A Green Silk Road Pavilion will be established as well by the organizing committee and the China Council for International Investment Promotion to showcase the achievements made in green industry through cooperation between China and Silk Road countries.

The most anticipated 2019 International Investment Forum will focus on the Belt and Road Initiative and will serve as a platform for investment dialogue and consultation for countries along the Silk Road. It will also showcase Silk Road cooperation results and policy communication.

CIFIT is held in Xiamen every September. The fair focuses on investment negotiation and investment policy promotion on a national and international scale, promoting the development of national and regional economies in China as well as economic and trade exchanges between Taiwan and the mainland.

In 2018, the fair facilitated the signing of 1,982 investment projects worth 527.5 billion yuan ($78.59 billion). It was attended by more than 120,000 representatives from 1,005 industrial and commercial associations as well as nearly 5,000 companies representing 128 countries and regions.
