He was a well-known Neo-Confucian scholar, philosopher andd educator not only in China, but also in some countries in East Asia, Europe and the United States. The Neo-Confucian master's ideas had an extraordinary influence on traditional Chinese thought and culture, especially in the Yuan (1271-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
