As the film and television industry in Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province continues to heat up, more and more related enterprises in the city are starting to focus on post-production.

Post-production includes film editing, color modulation, special effects production and music production, according to an official from a local film and television enterprise in Xiamen.

"Xiamen's post-production industry has huge potential thanks to the Golden Rooster & Hundred Flowers Film Festival which will be held in Xiamen for the next 10 years. However, related enterprises are facing problems such as a lack of cooperation with experienced post-production companies and high-level personnel," the official added.

Xiamen is planning to build a film and television production base which focuses on special effects and research and development of virtual reality, augmented reality and virtual human technologies. The base will also introduce well-known post-production companies and talent training projects, according to the Xiamen municipal natural resources and planning bureau.

Statistics show that film and television production in China has been growing at an annual rate of more than 20 percent in recent years. China now faces a huge talent shortage of 200,000 in the post-production industry.
