A cross-Straits youth baseball invitation tournament started in Xiang'an district, Xiamen, in East China's Fujian province, July 17, local media reported.

The two-day event gathered 300 participants from 16 baseball teams, and Guo Yushi, a national referee for the Chinese Baseball Association, was on duty for the competition.

The director of Xiang'an Culture and Tourism Bureau, Cai Azai, said that this year's event was supposed to be a baseball feast for youth from both sides of the Straits.

With the development of Xiang'an baseball, more and more high-level events have been held there. In addition, in 2015, a cross-Straits baseball invitation tournament jointly held by both sides of the Straits was launched in Xiang'an.
