The coastal city of Xiamen, Fujian province, will join hands with Penghu county in Taiwan to promote an ocean-themed carnival there this summer, according to a local media report on July 17.

A promotion meeting was launched July 16 to provide Xiamen residents with another travel option. The 2019 Penghu ocean party carnival, which plays a key role in Penghu's summer tourism industry, will offer six ocean-themed activities.

Ch'en Mei-ling, director of Penghu tourism bureau, said that the six ocean-themed activities include some related to water-themed parks and picnic music parties.

She added that a "love journey on the island" activity from July 29 to August 12 will offer couples of all ages a one-day tour and a firework-themed concert.

Travel agencies in Xiamen will cooperate with the tourism industry in Penghu and take reservations for two yachts, each with capacity for 552 passengers, which are expected to start operating in August, with one run every four days.
