Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce awarded 112 time-honored brands July 10 in Xiamen, Fujian province, local media reported.

The first batch of awards included 12 business industries. In addition to traditional business brands, such as hotels, dining services and general merchandise, some time-honored brands and historic landmark buildings also joined the list.

According to the report, it took nearly five years to complete the review process since legislation to protect time-honored brands was proposed in Xiamen, Fujian province, in 2015.   

During the past five years, Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce asked experts in intellectual property, history and culture, and brand management to review 138 declaration entities.

The awarded brands will benefit from special protection and encouragement in terms of policies, projects, subsidies and demonstrations.

The shortlisted enterprises qualify for their titles in aspects such as good business reputations and capacity to achieve sustainable development capacity.
