Xiamen cuisines promoted at Foreign Affairs Ministry event

A promotional event entitled "China in the New Era: Eco-friendly Fujian, Gateway to the Maritime Silk Road" – a part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Presenting Chinese Provinces initiative – was held by the ministry in Beijing on July 5.

A buffet featuring Fujian's local specialties, including many Xiamen delicacies, was held afterwards, presenting Xiamen's distinct culinary culture to the world.

Let's take a look at some of Xiamen's most famous dishes.

Satay beef meatballs [Photo/sunnews.cn]

The production method of satay was introduced to southern Fujian by overseas Chinese in Indonesia in the 1920s and 1930s. It has become a common sauce in Xiamen and is used to make many delicacies.
